Organ Lessons
“There is nothing to playing the organ. You only have to hit the right notes at the right time and the instrument plays itself.”
- Johann Sebastian Bach
Whether your goal is to become a concert organist, church musician, or to be a proficient musician on the instrument, lessons provide one-on-one instruction tailored to your personal development! Organ students generally have an early-intermediate level of skill in playing the piano, and have grown tall enough to comfortably reach the pedals.
A typical organ lesson will develop skills beyond learning the notes. Students learn about healthy, efficient, and sustainable technique, the importance of good posture, musicality and analysis skills, and the fundamentals of organ registration.
What to bring to an organ lesson:
A pencil
A notebook
Organ shoes (What are organ shoes? Parker will help you find the pair that is right for you.)
Your music
Lessons are taught at a competitive rate of $40 for a half-hour lesson, with one hour and 90 minute lessons offered.*
*One hour lessons are encouraged at the organ, it gives the right amount of time to focus on the principles of registration (picking the stops/sounds) as well as more time to understand the feet and how they play the pedals.
